The Configuration Screen Explained

Updated 3 Aug 2026

Almost everything you'll set up lives behind the TCC Configuration tab. This is a map of it, so the rest of the documentation makes sense.

Configuration → Home. Connection and licence status on the left, sync summary and history on the right.

The status panels

Two panels sit above the menu on every screen, so you can always see them.

Connection Status shows whether Salesforce can currently talk to Xero, and when the last sync finished. If the connection has dropped, this is where you'll notice first.

Licence Status shows ACTIVE while your trial or subscription is valid. If it reads anything else, syncing stops and the document wizards refuse to open.

The menu

Below the status panels is the menu, and it has a specific shape worth understanding: global settings sit at the top, per-organisation settings sit under the organisation itself.

Menu itemWhat's behind it
HomeThe overview above — sync totals, sync history, connection state
TwoCanConnect ConfigurationOrg-wide settings that apply no matter how many Xero organisations you connect, plus Xero authentication and managing users
Your Xero organisationThe setup for that organisation — expand it to see the steps
ToolsUtilities you run occasionally rather than configure once — the page layout editor, invoice percentages, the CSV upload tool and the debug log viewer
AdvancedField mapping, advanced settings and the admin overview
Help & TroubleshootingSelf-diagnosis, debug logs and logging a case
One entry per Xero organisation

Each connected Xero organisation gets its own row in the menu, with its own settings underneath. Connecting a second organisation doesn't change the settings of the first.

The setup steps

Expanding your Xero organisation reveals the setup, numbered in the order you should work through it:

  1. Sync Settings — direction, defaults and which contact types to sync
  2. Object Settings — which records flow between the two systems
  3. Manage Syncing — running the historical sync, then turning the ongoing sync on

The numbering isn't decorative. Object Settings depends on choices made in Sync Settings, and Manage Syncing shouldn't be switched on until both are right — the product enforces part of this, since the ongoing sync won't start until the historical sync has finished.

Step 1. The progress indicator across the top tracks where you are.

Sync history

The Home screen lists recent sync runs with their duration and record counts. A run marked Sync Issues rather than Sync Completed is your starting point when something looks wrong — see Why a sync failed and how to retry it.

Check here first

Before raising a case, take a look at Home. Connection status, licence status and the last sync result answer most questions on their own.
