Advanced Settings

Updated 19 Sept 2026

Configuration → Advanced → Advanced Settings changes core behaviour. In the product's own words, these allow you to change the core functionality of TwoCanConnect. Most orgs never touch them, and the ones that need to usually need exactly one. The screen is five cards; this article follows them in order.

Configuration → Advanced → Advanced Settings.

Default Settings

Other defaults

SettingDefaultWhat it affects
Country and Area Code Phone Fields SettingCombinedSalesforce uses one phone field; Xero uses separate country, area code and number. Decides how they map
Product Types to SyncProducts SoldWhether you sync items you sell, buy, or both
Xero Account Class TypesRevenueWhich Xero account classes sync. Add Asset, Expense, Liability or Equity if you post invoice lines to them
Rollup Calculation SummariesIncluding taxWhether the invoice summary fields on Account and Opportunity include tax
Decimal Places to allow on Invoice Creation24 shows four decimals on the invoice screen and allows four-decimal syncing to Xero
Rollup Last Invoice Date FieldInvoice DateWhich date sets a customer's Last Invoice Date
Rollup Dates from Future InvoicesNoWhether future-dated invoices count towards Last Invoice Date
Allow Sync Online Invoice URL for Historical InvoicesOffWhether the Xero online-invoice link is fetched for every invoice in a historical sync. Off since September 2026 because it multiplies API usage; the link can be fetched on demand from a record
Relate Repeating Invoices to the original objectOnInvoices generated by a repeating invoice link back to the Opportunity the template was raised from
Use Xero Summary Only ParameterOffFor invoices with very large numbers of line items. Turning it on reveals Xero Summary Only Batch Limit (1 to 40, default 20)
The rollup settings. Changing the calculation type mass-updates the summary fields on every Account and Opportunity.

Two of these ask you to confirm. Rollup Calculation Summaries warns that it mass-updates the totals fields on Accounts and Opportunities, which can fire your own automations. Decimal Places set to 4 warns that Salesforce multi-currency must also be set to four decimal places for the extra precision to reach Xero.

Ask before enabling Use Xero Summary Only

The setting itself says to confirm with support before turning it on. Take that at face value.

Sync Batch Size

Number of API callouts per sync batch, 1 to 10. Each callout fetches 100 records from Xero, so the default of 10 means 1,000 records per batch. Reduce it if you hit CPU time limit errors, which the product notes is common on orgs with 100k+ records. A smaller batch that completes beats a larger one that fails.

Sync Batch Size and Product Creation.

Product Sync Mode (Multi-Org)

Shown only when two or more Xero organisations are active. Shared Products puts every organisation's products in the Standard Pricebook; Org-Specific Pricebooks gives each organisation its own. Switching doesn't need a resync; a background job migrates the pricebook entries. See Connecting additional Xero organisations.

Product Creation

Controls what happens to new products arriving from Xero.

OptionBehaviour
Smart (recommended)New items are created automatically. Items that look like an existing Salesforce product are held in the Matching Tool for review, so you don't get duplicates
Stage everything for reviewNothing is created automatically. Every new Xero item waits in the Matching Tool until you create or link it

Switching from Stage back to Smart queues a catch-up that creates or matches everything that was waiting.

Set this to Stage before migrating

If you have existing Salesforce products that aren't linked to Xero, a historical sync on Smart can create duplicate products instead of matching what you have. The migration tool warns about exactly this. Set Stage first, match your products, then proceed. See Migrating from another connector.

Notification Preferences

Who is told when the connection drops, and how often.

If Xero or Salesforce has an outage, or the connection drops, TwoCanConnect emails the people you nominate until it's reconnected.

  • Time Between Disconnect Notifications — the reminder interval. Set it to 12 hours and you're reminded every 12 hours.
  • Users or Groups to Notify — search for users or public groups. The installing user is added by default.
  • Disconnect Notifications — the on/off toggle.

Nominate a group rather than one person, so a disconnect during someone's leave still reaches somebody.

API Limits

The API floor settings reserve headroom under Xero's limits.

Three floors that reserve a buffer of Xero API callouts so normal syncing doesn't exhaust your allowance:

SettingRangeDefault
API Daily Limit1 to 4,0002,500
API Minute Limit1 to 5040
Refresh Product Quantity on Hand20 to 4020
Change these with support

Each carries the note Adjust if required in conjunction with TwoCanConnect Support. Getting them wrong means either wasted headroom or hitting Xero's limits mid-sync.

Purge Debug Log

The last two cards.

The red Purge Debug Log button deletes every TwoCanConnect debug log. Up to 10,000 logs are deleted immediately; more than that and a background job is scheduled.

Don't purge before raising a case

Logs are how support diagnoses a problem, and how you see when one started. Purge only after an issue is closed.

Usage Diagnostics

Daily Diagnostic Snapshot records a daily summary of the org's sync health, data volumes and Xero API usage and shares it with TwoCanConnect, so problems can be spotted before they affect you. It's aggregate counts only; no invoice, contact or financial data leaves your org. Turn Off stops the schedule; the status line shows Scheduled daily or Not scheduled.
