Bills

Updated 20 Sept 2026

Bills — money you owe suppliers — are created in Xero and read into Salesforce, where your team can see them against the supplier's Account.

Created in Xero, corrected from either side

A bill is a purchasing and bookkeeping record, so new bills are raised in Xero, not Salesforce. Purchase orders are the Salesforce-first counterpart: raise the order from Salesforce, and the bill that follows is recorded in Xero.

Once a bill has synced, its Status and Bill Date can be edited on the Salesforce record, and with the connection on Two Way those edits are pushed back to Xero on the next cycle. A bill dated before Xero's lock date is held and flagged Blocked By Lock Date rather than failing.

Enabling them

Bills are switched on in Object Settings like any other object. They're off by default — most sales-led orgs don't need them.

Suppliers as Accounts

To see bills against a supplier, the Xero contact needs to sync as a Salesforce Account. That means setting Customer Types to Sync to include suppliers — see Sync settings.
