Branding Themes, Tax Rates and Tracking Categories
Branding themes, tax rates and tracking categories are maintained in Xero. TwoCanConnect reads them into Salesforce so they can be chosen when raising a document, and refreshes them on every sync. None of them can be edited from the Salesforce side; Xero is the source of truth for all three.
Branding themes
A branding theme controls how a document looks when Xero sends it: logo, colours, payment details and wording. Your themes appear in the Branding Theme dropdown on the details-and-line-items screen of the wizard, so one Salesforce org can issue documents under several brands.
If you trade under several brands from one Xero organisation, themes are how you keep the paperwork right without connecting a second organisation.
Tax rates
Your Xero tax rates sync across and appear on each line as GST on Income (10%), with totals calculated the same way Xero calculates them. The document as a whole also carries Amounts Are: tax exclusive, tax inclusive or no tax, defaulting from Organisation-Wide Settings.
Each line's tax rate comes from the product, or the organisation default. Whether a user can change it on the invoice is the Change Tax Rate toggle under Object Settings; off by default.
Adding or changing a tax rate is done in Xero. Working around a missing rate with a manual amount in Salesforce produces an invoice that doesn't reconcile.
Tracking categories
Tracking categories are Xero's way of segmenting reports: by department, region, or whatever you've set up. Each category becomes a column on the line items, and the value can come from a field on the Salesforce line via the mapping set (Category Name 1 and Option 1, and a second pair), or be chosen by the user if Change Tracking Category is on under Object Settings.
This is often a reason a business wants the integration in the first place: the Salesforce record already knows the region or business unit, so the tracking value can come across automatically rather than being set by hand in Xero.
Missing values
New themes, rates and categories arrive on the next sync. To bring one across straight away, use Manual Data Import at the bottom of Manage Syncing: one button each for branding themes, tracking categories, Xero accounts and tax rates.
