If you run Salesforce for sales and Xero for accounting, a Xero Salesforce integration keeps customers, invoices and payments matched in both systems without anyone re-keying data. There are four serious ways to do it: Breadwinner, TwoCanConnect, SFX Connect and an iPaaS tool like Zapier. The right choice depends mostly on three things — whether you want a native Salesforce package or middleware, whether you need two-way sync in real time, and how the pricing model fits your team size and invoice volume.
We build TwoCanConnect. This comparison sticks to published, checkable facts about every product — pricing pages, AppExchange listings and vendor documentation — so you can weigh it up yourself. If we've got something wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
The short answer
- Breadwinner is the category veteran — on the AppExchange since 2014, SOC 2 Type II, around 131 reviews at 4.9★. It's polished and deep, and it's priced accordingly, with published pricing starting around $310 a month.
- TwoCanConnect is a native managed package with two-way, near-real-time sync and a flat AUD $149–$299/month price that includes unlimited users and transactions — no per-seat or per-record metering. Rated 4.6★ on the AppExchange, listed since 2019.
- SFX Connect is a budget-friendly native option, but the limits matter: transaction caps per tier, Xero-to-Salesforce sync on a ~15-minute schedule rather than real time, and some objects (products, quotes, purchase orders) not currently supported.
- Zapier is fine for one simple automation ("closed-won → create invoice") but it's middleware with task-metered pricing — it copies data between systems rather than keeping native records continuously in sync.

How to actually choose
Choose Breadwinner if you want the most-reviewed name in the category, need SOC 2 paperwork for procurement, and the ~$310+/month price isn't a blocker. It's a genuinely good product with a decade of track record.
Choose TwoCanConnect if you want the same native, no-middleware architecture with two-way sync across invoices, payments, quotes and purchase orders — at roughly half Breadwinner's price, with no per-user or per-transaction metering to outgrow. The TwoCanConnect Xero Salesforce integration also includes a migration wizard that moves you off any other connector — paid or built in-house — in minutes, plus historic Xero data sync so day one looks like business as usual. There's a free 14-day trial on the AppExchange with no card required.
Choose SFX Connect if budget is the deciding factor and your volume is low — the free tier handles five invoices a month. Just go in clear-eyed about the caps, the scheduled (not real-time) Xero-to-Salesforce sync, and the objects it doesn't yet cover.
Choose Zapier if you need one simple, one-direction automation and already pay for Zapier. For anything resembling a real sales-to-cash workflow, task metering and polling delays make it the wrong shape — and your finance data ends up flowing through a third-party middleware platform rather than staying inside Salesforce.
The native-vs-middleware question
It's worth understanding the architectural difference, because it drives everything else. A native managed package installs from the AppExchange and runs inside your Salesforce org — data flows directly between Salesforce and Xero's API under credentials you control, and your existing Salesforce permissions, profiles and sharing rules apply automatically. Middleware (Zapier, Workato, custom sync services) sits between the two systems, holds its own copy or stream of your data, and adds a third vendor, a third login and a third point of failure.

Common questions
Do any of these work without middleware? Breadwinner, TwoCanConnect and SFX Connect are all native Salesforce packages — no middleware. Zapier is middleware by design.
What Salesforce editions do they need? All the native options require Professional Edition or above. TwoCanConnect installs in about 15 minutes with no code — see the setup documentation.
Can I switch from one to another? Yes. Data lives in Salesforce and Xero, not in the connector — so switching mostly means re-mapping. TwoCanConnect's migration wizard automates that and brings your historic sync state across in a few clicks.
